A bronze plaque from the engine of the Wear Hopper No. 1, in black enamel reading 'The North Eastern Marine Engineering Company Ltd., Sunderland. Engine No. 2573 1924' and edging, 23 x 13in. (59 x 33cms); together with an enamel sign titled 'Code of Shaft Signals', 14 x 20in. (36 x 51cms). Note: The Wear Hopper No. 1 was built by Robert Thompson, Sunderland, for the River Wear Commissioners.
